Cagliary Cagliari, also known as "The City of Sun", is the chief town and the regional capital and port of Sardinia. An ideal location for sailing, kitesurfing, hiking and outdoor sports. Cagliari has a mild climate, often refreshed by northern-west winds. It is close to other beautiful sea-side locations, such as Maddalena Beach, Chia or Villasimius, still relatively unspoilt by tourism and in the basins you can see flamingos stalking through the basins poking their beaks into the mud for shells, worms, mussels. Poetto beach is also just 5km from the centre of Cagliari and is considered one of the most beautiful city beaches in the Mediterranean. Bordering the city are the mountain parks of Monte Arcosu and Maidopis, with large forests and wildlife such as Sardinian deers and wild boars.
