Carcassonne

Carcassone is situated on the Languedoc-Rosellón region of France and from 1997 is an UNESCO World Heritage site. Around 100 year, Romans built the city walls creating the administrative centre of the area. Once Carcassone had become a strategic site, there were many battles to conquer it all along the history. During C. V Visigoths built more fortifications after won Romans, and before the city was conquered by Saracens; this left in the city a varied cultural heritage. Apart from visiting the Citadell and its churches and monuments, we can do other kind of activities such as exploring the region in a hired boat through Canal du Midi, or visiting the famous vineyards.
