Chartres

Situated 80 km far from Paris, Chartres is a city with a rich history involved in a medieval environment dominated by its spectacular gothic cathedral recognized as UNESCO Heritage Site. In the old town mills and old houses has been carefully reconstructed to keep it as for example la Maison du Saumon XVI century situated close to the cathedral. Other interesting places to visit are the Art Museum, Agriculture Museum or the picturesque Picassiette House. But Chartres is not only architecture but also interesting cultural activities such as music festivals or great craft fairs are organized each year. Its gastronomy is based in pate and chocolate being the main dish 'Le Poule au Pot' related with the Enrique IV coronation in 1594.
