Havana Cuba's capital, Havana, has once again become a hot tourist destination after the country opened their doors to mass tourism in the early 90s. Old Havana, deemed a World Heritage Site, is a must-see; the antiquated architecture from the Spanish Colonial period portrays the grandeur of the time. The centre of Havana may be run down but it adds to part of the charm, with colourful art, lively music and delicious food reflecting the vibrant nature of its people. The Hemingway Marina offers visitors the chance to go fishing and snorkelling, among other things, and the Malecón- a sea wall hugging the Havana coastline- is a favourite hangout for young locals. Cuban cigars are highly regarded and trips to cigar factories are quite popular.
