Interlaken
Located between two Alpine Lakes (Brienz and Thun), Interlaken is a small city essentially created for tourism and is a popular base camp for outdoor sports and travel in the surrounding Bernese Oberland Alps. One of the oldest resorts of Switzerland and gateway to the magnificent Jungfrau mountain (4158m). Interlaken has activities for every wile including river-rafting, canyoning, paragliding, abseiling, skydiving, bungee jumping and more. A curious feature is that many of the shops which cram the centre of town have prominent signs in Japanese – of Interlaken's tourists, as many as a quarter are from Japan.
