Isle of Skye The Isle of Skye, usually known simply as Skye, is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Here the stark rise of the jagged Cuillin ridge (Skye's most famous group of mountains) drops to the gentle white of a soft sand beach. Inlets, bays and islands create a complex lacework pattern with the sea. Tiny villages and historic keeps are fascinating and there to be explored. Skye is renowned for its spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and heritage, as well as its abundant wildlife including the Golden Eagle, Red Deer and the Otter. Sights not to be missed include Old Man of Storr, a rocky hill on the Trotternish peninsula and Dunvegan Castle - great castle in the north of the island with singing chief.
