Johannesburg
Johannesburg is South Africa's largest and most prosperous city, with a population of 7 million. Although it is South Africa's wealthiest city, there is a considerable disparity between the rich and the poor and the contrast between First and Third World is very apparent. There's plenty to see and do in Johannesburg - pay a visit to the Soweto, a famous apartheid museum, go on a township tour with a tour operator, or visit the Mandela Family Museum in Orlando West. There are also plenty of markets and great places to eat, but nightlife tends to be limited to certain areas.
