Austria is a largely mountainous country due to its location in the Alps however other beautiful landscapes such as glaciers, meadows, alpine valleys, wooded foothills, gently rolling farmland, vineyards, river gorges, plains and even semi-arid steppes can also be discovered in Austria. Like most European countries, Austria looks back on a very eventful history however do not get side-tracked by stereotypical images of Lederhosen, the Sound of Music and yodelling!
