Langkawi Langkawi is located approximately 30km off the North West coast of mainland Malaysia, just south of the Thai border. It consists of some 99 separate islands, the main island of Pulau Langkawi being home to over 45000 people. Due to its location in the shelter of the mountains of mainland Malaysia, Langkawi escapes the worst of the Monsoon weather. For this reason it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
