Pisa

Pisa, located in western Tuscany, is known throughout the world for its famous Leaning Tower, but there is so much more to Pisa than just this striking landmark. Also in the city's Campo dei Miracoli or "Field of Miracles", to the north of the old town centre can be found the site of the beautiful Duomo (the Cathedral), the Baptistry and the Camposanto (the monumental cemetery which exhibits 14th and 15th century detached frescos; Roman sarcophagi; statues; sculptures; tombstones; and Medieval and Renaissance architectural elements). Pisa is also an excellent base to explore Northern Tuscany. Pisa's "Galileo Galilei" airport offers a large number of international and national flights operated by national airlines and low-cost airlines, which allow visitors access to Pisa at very reasonable prices.
