Quebec The capital of the Canadian province of Quebec, Quebec City is the largest city in eastern Quebec and considered to be the most French city in North America and is best known for its Winter Carnival and the Château Frontenac, an historic hotel which dominates the city skyline. The old city is split into two tiers, the Lower Town offers fashionable shopping, art galleries and restaurants running alongside the St. Lawrence River which runs straight along the Lower Town. Separated by steep rock and over 25 staircases, the Upper Town houses the most prominent buildings in Quebec city. Vieux-Québec does not allow private cars but it's extremely walkable and has excellent transport links to compensate. Other nearby tourist attractions include Montmorency Falls and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.
