Santiago de Cuba
Situated on the South East of the Island of Cuba, Santiago is an important sea port and is the second biggest city after Havana. The city is rich in history since being discovered in 1514. Although downtown you find the hustle and bustle of a big city, Santiago does have its more quiet rural areas where one can enjoy a more friendly and relaxing time experiencing all the rich cultural experiences the city has to offer. The city has an annual Carnival in July which is famous and attracts people from all over Cuba. There are also excursions that can be taken to regions just out of the city which are very popular with tourists. It has the largest Afro-Cuban population in the country which gives the city a more Caribbean culture which distinguishes itself from the other Cuban cities.
