Sapporo Unlike other Japanese cities, Sapporo doesn't rely on its traditional architecture to attract visitors, in fact Sapporo is recognised as a fairly new city. Sapporo has excellent ski resorts which are aided by the fact it experiences very long winters. The Sapporo Snow Festival held in February each year is the city's largest event.
Although being a fairly new city the Clock tower built in 1878 has become a symbol of the city and proves to be popular with the tourists in terms of numbers of visitors.
Popular with brewers Sapporo is renowned in Japan for its beer so be sure to check out the Sapporo Beer Museum which also allows for a taste of different types of beer brewed in the city (for a small fee of course!).
