Winchester

Winchester is conveniently located just an hour's train ride from London and is home to a host of historical landmarks. This city of cathedrals boasts an impressive 11th century cathedral as well as Winchester Castle, the reputed home to King Arthur, complete with round table. A wander around Winchester's city centre winds past boutique shops, galleries and medieval buildings and if you're lucky, the oldest pub in England. For active types, the Three Castles Path is a stunning 60 mile walk to Windsor through the spectacular surrounding scenery and a visit in July will coincide with the country's longest running street theatre festival, the Winchester Hat Fair.
