It is situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodship in the Southern part of the Podhale region, and lies at feet of the Tatra Mountains, 750-1000m above sea level. The town of 30,000 receives about two million holiday-makers a year, yet still manages to retain a small-town provincial charm.
